Police Officers Have Hearts and Fall in Love Too!

Hasan Yahya, Ph.D

Police officers are human beings, like you and me, with certain personalities. Unlike most people perceive them as hard on drivers, or angry persons use their canes or voices. Many of them are polite, and successfully deal with violators of rules in certain area. Their commonality is applying the rules of law to all on equal basis. People do not complain usually when they feel they are at fault. Speeding, or squeezing other cars and make accidents. Or using traffic in the opposite direction. Any way, we said they are human like you and me. But they have to play the role well. I brought this subject because I read recently about a police officer in Britain. The story tells us about Sali, her name, who was upset when she knows that she has to pay 30 sterling genies. But the police officer smile made her accept the violation, she was in fact, stopping in a no parking zone. She explained to him that she was waiting for few minutes. But he smiled, furthermore, unlike his behavior with other drivers, he gave her his phone number. After one year relationship they got married. Sali was a substitute teacher, she described the police officer behavior as polite and friendly. He explained to her how to pay the violation. She was in fact, looking at his smile which made her interested to listen. In her interview with, The daily mail newspaper, she told the editor, that she called him in the same day, and met with him the next day, and ever since, their love relation was building a strong bond, where he finally proposed to marry her. Again, as human being, the officer can't know when love comes, from a violation of law in the street, or any other place. They are human like you and me. Believe it. They are doing their job. But unfortunately, they are stereotyped as angry and mean persons, which contrary to the facts. Corruption may stamp some especially in the Third World countries, but in America, the majority of them are helpful nice people like you and me. (391 words)
